Dr. Harry Gibson retired July 2021. We wish him CONGRATULATIONS on a successful career and BEST WISHES in this new chapter of life. Dr. Gibson will be missed!
Hi, I’m Harry Gibson. Originally from Minnesota, I attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, where I played four years of football and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971. I, then, attended the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1973 and Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1975.
After a short time on the faculty in the radiology department at the U of M School of Dentistry, I entered the United States Air Force Dental Corps and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and Northern California. I returned to Minnesota in 1979, entering private practice, and found myself moving to Watertown, Wisconsin in 1981 to purchase the practice of Dr. Hal Harris. It was at that time Area Dental Clinic was born and eventually moved to it’s current location in Watertown. I was thrilled to welcome Jarrod Thomas to the practice in 2009, who became the sole owner in 2016, and is continuing the legacy of Area Dental Clinic.
My family and I attend First Baptist Church in Watertown. I am a member of The American Dental Association, The Wisconsin Dental Association, Jefferson County Dental Society, and Gideon’s International, whose sole purpose is to distribute the Word of God throughout the world. I am a former member of the Watertown Chamber of Commerce and medical staff of Watertown Memorial Hospital. I am a past president of the Watertown Library Board, past member of the board of The American Cancer Society and the Watertown Rotary Club.
Since 2012, I have volunteered at least four times each year with Operation Renewed Hope on short-term medical missions trips. Through these missions, I have traveled to The Dominican Republic, Panama, Peru, Chili, Albania, Kosovo, Greece, Uganda, Liberia, Cambodia, and The Philippines, donating my dental services to the underserved and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
My wife, Mary Susan, and I are long time residents of Watertown. When I’m not in the office or on a missions trip, I enjoy golfing and spending time with my family. I look forward to providing you reasons to smile!
